Sounine…

Like a little bit of paradise, Sounine is a peaceful village in northern Tunisia combining proximity, nature and legends…

Proximity
Located between the seaside town of Raf-Raf, with its promenade and restaurants and the main town of Ras Jebel (home to small shops and a bustling market) close by, the village of Sounine is just an hour drive north of Tunis (and Tunis-Carthage Airport), and only 50 minutes from the port city Bizerte.
Nature
With its rugged coastline interspersed with hills, rocks and white sand beaches, you’ll be surrounded by unspoiled nature, making you feel like you’re at the edge of the world.
Legends
Our guest house is located just a few minutes walk from the beautiful beach of Ain Mestir, nestled on one of two twin hills that are known together as the emblem of Sounine. Affectionately called “the bare” (fartassa) because of the low vegetation that covers them (thyme, rosemary, broom), the two hills have a distinct pyramidal shape, which feeds the legends that surround them.

Our values

Conviviality

Conviviality is anchored in the daily life in Villa Sounine. The breakfasts, taken around a big table, constitute a privileged moment of exchange and sharing, relayed by the evenings around the fireplace in winter or on the various terraces in summer.

Creativity

Creativity is an attitude, a way of life, and in Villa Sounine, we live by the rhythm of creativity: Furniture, paintings, terracotta objects, sculptures … from our hands, we have drawn and realized each and every one of them.

Environmentally Friendly

Being very concerned about the protection of our planet and what we leave to our children, we are very attentive to our ecological footprint and modes of consumption.

Our guest house has 4 rooms that can accommodate up to 8 people. You can either choose between a more independent accommodation in our small villa (the bungalow), or enjoy all the comfort of our two double rooms, including an ample and entirely homemade breakfast.

FAQ

Eat & Drink
This is a question we are asked very often. Our answer will depend on your preferences and desires:

If you are looking for simplicity, in summer you’re spoiled for choice. There are a number of restaurants located on the nearby beaches, and of course even more in Raf-Raf, which is a long-time resort area.

If you opt for a chic restaurant, it's better to go to Bizerte where several establishments have made a name for the high quality of their seafood.

If you prefer intimacy, you can also stay on site and prepare your own dishes and barbecue. The Ras Jebal market will satisfy you with its stalls loaded with fresh fruit and vegetables, its fish market, the know-how butchers, artisan bread, a large selection of olives and harissa, and local cheese.

If you want to enjoy a glass of wine or enjoy a cold beer, know that you will not find alcoholic beverages in the area, in restaurants, or in shops (except in Bizerte). On the other hand, you can do so with us, as we have a small selection of local wines that you can taste and discover.

If you are tempted or adept at vegetarian cooking, we can sometimes, depending on our availability, offer you a vegetarian table d'hôte or a vegetarian cooking workshop.

How To Get Here…
In general, having a car facilitates most travel in Tunisia, especially outside major cities, but it is not a requirement.

If you arrive from the airport, we can organize for you transfer to Villa Sounine (which is generally preferable after the fatigue of a trip).

Public transport, mainly by "louage" (collective taxi) is very inexpensive, but also restrictive, and rather suitable for those who want a total immersion experience in the local culture.

Once Arrived, How Do You Get From Place to Place…

At the Villa, you can use the local taxis for your transportation around the area. If you mainly want to rest, this may be an appropriate solution and the most viable.

If, on the other hand, you plan to do a lot of excursions throughout the region, it's better to opt for a car, which will make your life much easier and will be cheaper in the end!
